A stool created from 100% cork. The cork is resawn into sheets and then laminated to create a much stronger final material. By alternating layers of expansion cast and compression cast cork, I was able to create a contrasting appearance similar to that of wood. The finished stool is resemblant of a cut log or a cooked pastry. The form is much slimmer and uses far less material than a similarly sized piece of cork furniture constructed from solid cork. It also has the benefit of being an additive process, rather than the CNC or manual shaping of solid cork.
